Living the Oxford life
A group of high-performing BSix students have just returned from a week long summer residential in Pembroke College, University of Oxford. The group took part in a gruelling schedule of academic tutorials, lectures and cultural events while balancing a deadline for a challenging essay in their chosen subject field.

Students lived like actual undergraduates at Pembroke College in student halls while attending a jam-packed schedule of events, including a formal dinner on the first night of the school.
Students were broken up into their chosen subject groups for tutorials during which they discussed books and journals they read in preparation for submitting an essay of their own at the end of the week. The essays were marked by postgraduate tutors and assigned actual grades at an undergraduate level.

The group were also treated to a number of cultural events including a modernised performance of "Anthony & Cleopatra" by Creation Theatre in the outdoor amphitheatre of the Said Business School. Students also visited the world famous Bodlian Library, featured as the Library in the Harry Potter film series, they were treated to a guided tour of the Ashmolean Museum and also enjoyed a spot of punting along the Oxfordshire waterways.

Two BSix students were recognised for their hard work during the week by being awarded the titles of "Exhibitioner" of the summer school. Charlotte Jackson (History) and Eric Santos (Economics) will now go on to receive a scholarship for a place at another residential course run by the Villiers Park trust in Cambridge.
The group were taking part in the BSix Raising Aspirations Programme which was, this year, funded by the LETG AimHigher partnership. The programme has seen BSix partner with world-class reseach and teaching Universities to provide students with an in-depth insight into University life and encourage participants to raise their aspirations and achievement.
