Entry Requirements
GCSE Science grade C and Additional Science grade B, (or grade B in GCSE Biology) plus GCSE English grade C, all at higher tier.
Question paper requirements
Units F221 - paper consists of structured questions and questions requiring more extended answers.
Unit F222 - Candidates answer all questions. This assessment contains an advance notice containing two articles (case study 1 and case study 2).
Units F224 and F225 - These units contain some synoptic assessment and Stretch and Challenge questions.
Unit F226 - Candidates complete a single extended investigation set by themselves and/or their teacher(s)
Progression from these qualifications
Throughout the course, candidates are introduced to the ideas underpinning the study of human biology and their application to a variety of contexts, both everyday and more specialised. Their understanding of How Science Works in human biology is deepened. The specification thus provides a valuable education for candidates who take their study of human biology no further. It is also an excellent foundation for further study of human biology, biomedical science or other biological sciences.
