"The college is well supported and strategically directed by a strong governing body. Governors bring a wide range of experience to their role and are committed to supporting the college to become an excellent educational resource to their community. Governors are well informed and well supported in their work by the clerk. Their committees closely scrutinise both the educational and financial performance of the college. They are very clear on what needs to improve and are fully involved in the development of strategies to address the issues"

Richard Garrick – Chair of the Corporation
I left school at the age of eighteen having failed to attain the academic qualifications necessary for University entrance. Following in my father’s footsteps, I signed up for five years’ training to become a Chartered Accountant. I have to admit that when I started I had only the vaguest notion of what an accountant really did but it must have suited me as I am still with the same Firm forty two years later having been a Partner for the last thirty three of them - professional life has been both enjoyable and rewarding.
I do regret not applying myself sufficiently at the time to gain a place at University but console myself with the fact that places were fewer and farther between in those days. Who knows where my career would have led with that added qualification.
I have spent much of my professional career acting for clients in the charity, public and voluntary sectors with a special interest in Further and Higher Education. I have acted for a number of Further Education Colleges and my Clients now include the Royal Academy of Music and Trinity College of Music both of which are degree awarding Higher Education Institutions.
It was perhaps against this particular background of financial experience that I was delighted to be invited, early in 2002, to join the governing body of Brooke House. Although this was six months or so before the College opened to its very first student, much of the hard work involved in setting up a brand new Sixth Form College had already been done by those appointed to the Governing Body before me - those I regard as the ‘Founding Governors’. The initial phase of the building refurbishment programme was well under way and our first member of staff, the Principal, had just taken up post.
When Bob Timms, our Founding Chair, retired in 2004 I was asked to take on the Chairmanship of the Corporation.
I still find it hard to believe that so much has been accomplished in such a short period of time and am very pleased to have played some small part in our development.
We have come a very long way very quickly and very successfully but there are still some challenging times ahead of us - it is comforting to know that we have a team ready, willing and able to build on your successes and achievements.

I am proud to be a school Govenor of Bsix Brooke House College. I am inspired by the enthusiasm of students and staff and I feel this whenever I walk through the college doors. There is so much opportunity that education can bring and so much potential that young people have within them.

I work for Cadbury Schweppes in an area called corporate and social responsibility (CSR) which covers a wide range of subjects including responsible marketing, ethical trading, environment, health, safety, community, diversity, and employment standards. CSR has always sat at the heart of what the company does. With origins stretching back over 200 years, today Cadbury Schweppes' brands are enjoyed in almost every country of the world. In the UK, you may have seen some of our brands like Cadbury Dairy Milk, Bassetts, Trebor Mints, and Green & Blacks.

I have lived in London for almost 9 years and really like the city because of it offers a lot to do and see for everyone and is very international. I am from Canada, though was born in Trinidad & Tobago (we moved to Canada when I was three so I don't remember much at all!). I grew up and went to school in Canada including to university there, where I studied psychology and business.

I encourage students and staff at Brooke House to always be true to yourself and good to your neighbours, and work hard to pursue your dreams.

I trained as a stage manager and theatre technician and subsequently worked in a number of theatres in London and on tour. For a time I was on the road with various bands as a technician and I also set up and staged trade shows and conferences. Eventually, I went back to the theatre and decided I wanted to settle in London and together with a couple of colleagues took over the Shaw Theatre on Euston Road in 1988. We ran it for 6 years without subsidy and learnt a lot. In 1995 I moved to the Hackney Empire where I was General Manager and Project Director for the refurbishment project which took three years to plan and fundraise for and another three to actually do the work. We finally re-opened it in 2004 and a year later I became Chief Executive. I have been delighted to be associated with B6 since 2004 and to be able to play a small part in its success, I am sure there is much more to come. From the beginning I was impressed with the ethos behind the college and I am sure that with our new Principal we will see it develop still further and go from strength to strength.
